In my position I produce and edit videos as well as take photographs for reporters. Under my command, The Jambar received a third place award in the Ohio Newspaper Association photography division. I am the vice-president of the YSU chapter of the Society of Collegiate Journalists.
Throughout my career as a student journalist, I have seen and done things people can only dream of. I have traveled to Indiana, Green Bay, Southern Illinois and Michigan State. My favorite assignment was in 2012 when YSU traveled to the University of Pittsburgh and defeated the Panthers 31-17.
I am a non-traditional student and married to my supportive wife Heather. I am also the privileged father of two beautiful daughters, Ava and Amelia. Supporting a family while in college would not be possible without the unique opportunity I have had as a freelance photographer at the Youngstown Vindicator.
I love taking pictures because as a photographer I am able to make memories for people to cherish forever. I started taking photographs when I was 10 years old because I was diagnosed with Lupus and was in a fight for my life.
I spent a majority of my senior year of high school at Akron Children’s Hospital and it was pictures of my friends and family that helped me through the tough times when I easily could have given up.
In my free time I enjoy cooking and playing with my kids. They give an escape from my hectic life. Our favorite thing to do together is watch Disney movies like “Tangled” or “Rise of the Guardians.”
We also love traveling as a family. We always drive to our destinations because getting there is half the fun. My dream is to be able to travel with my family all over the world and take pictures while getting paid and providing for my family. Photography is not only my profession but my passion, and when you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life.
